Toshiba has done a fine job in giving the notebook a solid and rugged look Satellite dimensions make it a very slim device which will easily slip into most of the laptop bags. The lid has textured chain pattern which will help to keep and dirt and fingerprints away from the machine.

The chassis of the notebook feels very durable which ensures that the chassis does not creak or flex under pressure. The hinges of the screen are a bit loose which makes it very easy to open. We were a bit disappointed to find that the screen lid does not provide enough protection which makes the notebook a bit vulnerable during travelling when there is a considerable amount of distortion. You can easily upgrade the RAM of Toshiba Satellite A665 as it is very easy to remove the screw and get access to RAM and the hard drive.

The notebook features chiclet style keyboard with a very neat and clear design. One of the key features of the Satellite A665’s keyboard is that it has a dedicated number pad. The keys are very responsive and are large and flat which facilitates typing. There is no noise while typing on the keyboard which is very good and the keyboard also has dedicated multimedia keys. The company also offers a LED backlit keyboard which makes it easy to type in darkness.

The touchpad is very nice and thanks to the matte finish you get a very smooth navigation.  The touchpad is multi-touch in nature and the gestures are customizable in nature. But we were disappointed to find that the mouse clicks beneath the touchpad are very loud when clicked. The feedback of the touchpad is very shallow in nature.

The notebook has a 16 inch diagonal display with LED backlighting and the aspect ratio is 16:9. The quality of the display is very good and the colors rendered are quite sharp and vibrant. The contrast is sharp and so is the picture quality. Our only issue with the display is the narrow vertical viewing angles. The horizontal viewing angles are very good, but the vertical viewing angles are an issue with the machine. The display is capable of displaying pictures of resolution measuring 1366×768 pixels. Overall the screen quality of the machine impressed us.

The notebook features harman/kardon branded speakers above the keyboard. The speakers produce very good audio output and what surprised us is that despite lacking a subwoofer, the speakers performed above our expectations. The headphone jack also works fine and when headphones are plugged-in the audio experience is further enhanced.
