Toshiba Satellite P755-3DV20 Design And Looks

When you first look at Satellite P755-3DV20, you will find a very little difference between it and other Satellite notebooks. The laptop is constructed out of thick plastics with rounded edges and corners. The screen lid and the top of the chassis is covered with glossy plastics which attracts fingerprints and dust very easily. Hence you will not be able to keep your notebook clean for a very long period of time.

The build quality is quite good for a budgetary 15 inch notebook. Most of the exterior plastic shows flex when you pressed and this is quite normal for a budget notebook. But considering the high price tag associated with the notebook, we expected the build quality to be bit more durable. The display has a strong backing and even when we applied pressure, the plastic lid do flex inwards. The hinges of the screen provided adequate protection. Just like Satellite L755, P775 it is very easy to upgrade P755. There are a couple of access panels at the bottom of the chassis and you can easily replace the RAM or the hard drive with a little bit of effort.

The 15.6 inch display of Satellite P755 looks average when you first look at it. The screen has a glossy surface which gives good contrast and color saturation, but at the same time it also creates reflections when the screen is viewed in direct sunlight. The colors displayed were quite good, but not bright enough. Viewing angles were also narrow and the colors got quickly washed out when the screen was viewed from above. However the screen of Satellite P755 is a bit different from that of typical notebooks as it includes an Nvidia 3D vision IR emitter in the display bezel along with Nvidia 3D vision active shutter glasses. When you put on the 3D glasses, you can enjoy 3D photos, movies and games on the screen.

Toshiba Satellite P755-3DV20 Keyboard And Touchpad

Satellite P755 has full-sized keyboard and we appreciated the fact that the keyboard has a separate numeric keypad. The layout of the keys is quite good and it helps you to prevent typos. The keys are quite flat and have a glossy surface which once again subjects it to fingerprints and dusts. But we were disappointed to note that the key travel was quite shallow. However we were happy to find that the support under the keyboard was very firm and it did not flex under normal typing pressure.

The touchpad of P755 is very good as the textured surface provided good traction for fingers. The touchpad buttons have chrome finish which too attracted fingerprints after light usage. It also produced a nice sound when pressed. There is a LED light bar above the touchpad which helps you to detect the touchpad in dark room. Users also get a separate touchpad on/off button which can be turned off by users if they want to use an external mouse.

One of the great features of the notebook is that it comes with a set of Nvidia 3D vision glasses so that you can view 3D movies and photos directly on the screen of the laptop. The machine has a decent selection of ports as we expect from a multimedia machine. It includes a USB 3.0 port and three USB 2.0 ports. There is a HDMI port and a memory card reader. There is a DVD burner and a Blu-ray player. The notebook also boasts of a couple of stereo speakers which delivers loud and clear sound. Since the speakers are located above the keyboard, the sound came out really well. Though the speaker lacked bass yet it performed quite well.

The machine does a great job in managing heat and it remains cool even after we played 3D Blu-ray movie for over 2 hours, the machine remained cool. But when we played a 3D game then the area surrounding the heat exhaust of the machine got a bit hot. The cooling fan remained off for most of the time, but when we played 3D game, then the fan was on full swing and its noise could heard loud and clear.

The included battery of Satellite P755-3DV20 gave us a runtime of just over 3 hours which was very disappointing.
