For a budgetary machine, Satellite 505 looks pretty attractive. The lid and the keyboard deck are made up of Toshiba’s Fusion finish. The lid of the machine was quite glossy because of which it was easily subjected to fingerprints. With dimensions of Satellite L505 standing at 15.1 x 10.2 x 1.6 inches and the machine weighing 6 pounds, Satellite L505 cannot be exactly called as a travel-friendly machine. But considering the screen size of the machine, the weight and dimensions are of reasonable size and weight. The fusion finishes in graphite gray will sure to attract attention. The keyboard of Satellite 505 is black in color and it provided a very good feedback. However we noticed some kind of flex which was a bit annoying. However, thanks to the large size of the screen, Toshiba has cramped in a full number pad on the right side of the machine. The notebook is equipped with a 15.6 inch display with a screen resolution of 1366×768 pixels. The 15.6 inch HD trubrite display is not the brightest one we have seen in the market. When we tried to set the brightness while surfing the web, we found that the brightness is already set to the maximum level. Viewing angles were quite average and when the screen was set at ideal angles, watching movies and Youtube on Satellite L505 was quite enjoyable. The 16:9 aspect ratio of the display was quite good.

The size of the touchpad was quite nice and the gritty surface did not offer any friction. We had no navigation issues with the touchpad and the huge silver mouse buttons provided decent crisp feedback.

The laptop is equipped with stereo speakers. Though the speakers were loud, yet we felt that they lacked the quality we wanted. The sound appeared to be hollow and we will advise you get a nice set of earphones before you wish to enjoy a movie or song.
