Toshiba Satellite L755 Build And Looks

Despite being a budgetary notebook, Satellite L755 looks good. The notebook has a lustrous surface which subjects it to fingerprints and dust. This makes the notebook a mess after sometime. The build quality of the notebook is quite acceptable.

It feels sturdy and though the plastics used are made up of reasonable thickness, yet the surfaces flex under pressure. The display however has a strong backing which protects it from flexing under pressure. You can easily upgrade the L755. All you need to do is to remove the couple of access panels beneath the chassis and you get access to the memory and the hard drive.

Toshiba Satellite L755 Keyboard

The notebook has a full-sized keyboard along with a separate numeric keypad. The keyboard surface is glossy too and there is no extra spacing between the keys, unlike the Chiclet style keyboard. The keys are flat and have a light feel and the tactile feedback is quite good. The keyboard however is comfortable to type and we did not notice any flex. We were disappointed to note that that backlighting is not available in the keyboard of L755.

Toshiba Satellite L755 Touchpad

The touchpad of Satellite L755 is big enough for smooth navigation. The touchpad has a textured surface and the fingers are quite easy to track. The touchpad buttons have chrome finish and when pressed they give loud sound. The touchpad buttons should be quite. The touchpad however offered smooth navigation and one feature which we liked about it is that the on/off button is located directly above it.

The Satellite L755 boasts of a 15.6 inches display. The glossy surface of the screen increases the contrast to some extent. Brightness of the screen is average and the viewing angles are quite narrow. When we viewed the screen from above or below, then the colors got washed out.

Satellite L755 has a couple of stereo speakers which are located above the keyboard. The speakers are quite loud and produce clear sound. The bass however is quite little and the fact that they are located above the keyboard helps them to produce loud sound.

Satellite L755 is a relatively cool machine and even when running intensive apps such as Photoshop, the machine remained fairly cool. The exhaust vent is located on the left side of the notebook and only occasionally it expels out warm air. Most of the internal components of the machine produces little heat and is not audible.

Satellite L755 includes a battery which gives a runtime of around three and half hours which is a bit disappointing. The low battery life can be attributed to the low capacity 6 cell battery of the machine.

The machine features a VGA webcam which produces grainy pictures. During our webcam test, we found that the pictures at the other end were not very clear and it lacked details.

Satellite L755 fits well for a basic computer but then we find it tough to recommend because of its high price. The quality and the features of the notebook are quite basic, but the machine is highly expensive. The machine features a good keyboard and a good set of speakers. It is very cool too. But then the glossy plastic and lack of advanced ports and low battery life makes the machine fall short of expectations.
